Romance Mechanics

Building Friendship

  • Talk daily — simple but essential. Miss a day and friendship decays slightly.
  • Give gifts — each NPC has favorite, liked, neutral, and hated items. Favorite gifts give 3× points.
  • Complete their quests — every romanceable NPC has a personal questline.
  • Attend events together — invite them to festivals for a big friendship boost.
  • Write letters — unlockable after reaching friendship Lv.3 with any NPC.

Heart Events

Heart events trigger at specific friendship levels and locations:

  • Heart 2: Unlocks at friendship Lv.3 — casual hangout
  • Heart 4: Unlocks at friendship Lv.5 — deeper conversation
  • Heart 6: Unlocks at friendship Lv.7 — romantic tension
  • Heart 8: Unlocks at friendship Lv.9 — confession scene
  • Heart 10: Unlocks at friendship Lv.10 — committed relationship

Important: Some heart events require specific moon phases, seasons, or weather conditions. Check your journal for hints.

Dating Multiple NPCs

Moonlight Peaks allows dating multiple characters simultaneously — but be careful:

  • Some NPCs get jealous if they see you with someone else
  • Dating two members of rival families (e.g., Dracula + Shadow Court) triggers unique drama scenes
  • You can eventually marry one NPC (details still being discovered)

Gift Guide: Universal Tips

Universally Liked Gifts

  • Blood Rose (almost everyone)
  • Moonbell (nature-loving NPCs)
  • Cooked meals (werewolves especially)

Universally Hated Gifts

  • Garlic (obviously — you're a vampire)
  • Holy water (insulting to supernatural beings)
  • Silver items (painful for werewolves)
  • Rotten ingredients

Best Early-Game Romance Strategy

  1. Start with Luna — her friendship unlocks powerful spells AND she's centrally located
  2. Grow Blood Roses early — they're the most universally liked gift
  3. Focus on one family at a time — family reputation bonuses stack
  4. Don't ignore festivals — they're the biggest friendship boosts in the game

Romance Tips & Tricks

  • Talk to every NPC at least once per night to prevent friendship decay.
  • Give gifts on their birthdays (check calendar) for 5× points.
  • Some NPCs only appear at specific times — Mina is only in the garden at midnight.
  • Completing the Lunar Coven questline unlocks a "matchmaker" spell that reveals gift preferences.
  • Characters from rival families have special dialogue if you date across family lines.
