A source-checked Moonlight Peaks walkthrough covering early quests, The Mysterious Bay fallen tree, Hellkitten, magic, the cauldron, and Museum.

Moonlight Peaks Walkthrough
Moonlight Peaks lets several quests overlap, so there is not always one rigid “main quest” line. Use the journal and map markers as the authority for your save, then use this guide to understand the major progression gates.
This page intentionally stops short of a scene-by-scene ending walkthrough. It summarizes the route supported by Neoseeker's release-build quest list, LadiesGamers' full-game beginner guide, and long-form playthroughs.
New-Game Route
1. Register and meet the town
Visit Town Hall, then work through Meet the Townsfolk. Neoseeker's opening checklist counts five vampires, four witches, four werewolves, and three seers for this objective.
You do not need to finish every introduction before beginning farm work. Early requests overlap, so combine conversations with gathering and shopping.
2. Start Orlock's wine request
Orlock introduces Blood Grapes and asks for wine. Viktor, found in the crypt on your plot, explains the starting tools and farm basics.
For the wine route:
- plant and water the Blood Grapes;
- keep gathering Wood while they grow;
- craft a Keg when its blueprint is available;
- process the grapes into Red Wine;
- deliver the wine to Orlock.
Neoseeker lists the Keg as requiring 20 Wood and Red Wine as four Blood Grapes in the current release guide. Check the Workbench and Keg in your own version before planning materials around those numbers.
3. Clear the first town requests
Neoseeker's recommended opening route includes:
| Quest | Immediate objective |
|---|---|
| A New Beginning | Bring Ludo one Fried Egg, then follow the Henderson housewarming objective |
| A Roof Over Your Head | Deliver 50 Wood to Ridge |
| The First Step to Comfort | Craft and place a Coffin Cat Bed |
| Outfish the Fisherman | Catch three different fish species and report to Noel |
| Farm Animals for Sale | Visit Luna, buy a Barn from Ridge, and wait for construction |
| The Need for Herbs | Deliver four Nightshade Powder to Luna |
These quests can appear alongside one another. Keep Wood, Eggs, Fiber, early ore, and processing materials instead of selling everything immediately.
After the opening roof work, the first optional house expansion is ordered from Ridge for 8,000 Coins, 100 Wood, and 25 Stone. Ridge can handle only one construction job at a time, so finish a quest-required Barn or other building before committing him to the house.
Fishing Rod and Noel
Noel's Outfish the Fisherman challenge asks for three different fish species. Reporting back after the catch completes the introduction; Neoseeker lists 250 Coins as the reward, while LadiesGamers also describes this as the fishing-rod unlock route.
The requirement is three species, not simply three copies of one fish.
Net and Death
The Net arrives later than the Fishing Rod. Advance the story until Fiona clears the Misty Shores route and the Ambrosia Mansion / Dinner Party line begins, then trigger the first Death scene at the Ambrosia Graveyard. After sleeping, continue into the next Death/Soul Blob event to receive the Net.
Do not wait for one exact calendar date: published playthroughs reached this around Days 10–15, but story progress and the two Death events are the reliable conditions. The Critter Checklist has the troubleshooting route; the same Net also starts the Soul Blob collection.
Hellkitten Form
The release-build quest list places Cat form as the reward for completing The Dinner Party. LadiesGamers describes the surrounding story chain as involving A Bridge Too Far, Tension in the Crest Garden, A Croak and a Crest, and The Dinner Party.
Once unlocked, Hellkitten is useful because it:
- moves faster than the normal vampire;
- can prepare soil with less Energy;
- can be selected from the transformation wheel.
Follow the journal rather than forcing those quests into an invented single-file order; several town and family objectives overlap.
Unlocking the Wand and Aquaflux
Neoseeker documents The Magic of Crops as becoming available after The Dinner Party, a two-day wait, and Luna's letter.
The supported route is:
- visit Luna's Farm;
- take the broken wand to Webb of Wonders;
- return to Luna;
- use Aquaflux on the Moonfruit objectives;
- revisit Luna when the journal asks.
Aquaflux I is the first confirmed spell. It costs one Mana and waters up to 16 crops in Eurogamer's release guide. Magical crops require spell watering; ordinary Watering Can water and rain do not replace Aquaflux for them.
Cauldron and Potion Progression
The Cauldron is tied to Mend it with Magic:
- talk to the witches about the broken Cauldron;
- bring it to Fiona's farm;
- deliver two Mana Essences;
- wait for Fiona to return it.
After completing that quest, Neoseeker lists a two-day wait and Fiona's letter before A Touch of Magic. That follow-up introduces crop growth, rain, and building-movement spell objectives.
The Mysterious Bay: Fallen Tree Location
Quick answer: the fallen tree is not in the Howling Marshes. Go to Moonlit Pines, find Luna's Seed Stall, then look beside the small waterfall just west of the stairs leading to Luna's cottage. Cast Arborascend on the log.
When The Mysterious Bay appears, Neoseeker and the Moonlight Peaks Wiki agree on four objectives:
- deliver Samael's letter to Kim;
- ask the witches about a spell that lifts trees;
- get the spell from Webb of Wonders;
- lift the tree at the waterfall.
PC Gamer identifies the required spell as Arborascend, bought from Sabrina at Webb of Wonders. It costs 3 Mana to cast, so water essential magical crops first or bring a Mana-restoring item. The published gesture is down, up, right, left, up; the same pattern remains visible in the first Almanac tab if the cast fails.
The misleading part is the location. Luna Bay sits near the Howling Marshes, but the quest log's fallen tree is in Moonlit Pines, close to Luna's seed cart. Walk west from the stairs to Luna's cottage and look for the log blocking the small waterfall. Casting Arborascend there triggers the cutscene and clears the objective.
This quest reconnects Kim and Samael's story and feeds into later Luna Bay progression. If you are following Samael's romance route, completing The Mysterious Bay is also part of the story gate before his extended relationship hearts become available.
Museum and Broader Progression
The museum is a story unlock rather than an opening-night system. One 60-hour reviewer reached it at around 20 hours, but that is a personal playthrough milestone, not a guaranteed unlock time.
Neoseeker's Museum route includes four family artifacts, clearing and decorating Museum Park, and five opening invitations. Most invitation refusals are intentional. Use the Museum Guide for the exact tasks, donation rooms, rewards, and the reported 25% Catacombs-key threshold.
If the museum has not appeared at the same hour as someone else's save, keep advancing active family and town quests.
When Progress Seems Stuck
Check these in order:
- finish the current local objective before chasing another quest marker;
- read new letters after sleeping;
- wait the number of nights explicitly shown by the journal;
- enter the marked area at the scheduled time;
- check the map for a character or event icon;
- continue family/Crest quests if a form, area, or building is still locked.
Moonlight Peaks spreads features across a long story. A reviewer still had one inaccessible area and building after more than 60 hours, so a locked location is not automatically a bug.
