Moonlight Peaks saves when you sleep in the farmhouse coffin. Learn whether there is manual save, what happens at sunrise, and which control settings matter.

How to Save in Moonlight Peaks — Controls & Settings
Quick answer: return to the farmhouse, interact with your coffin, and sleep. Release-build guides agree that sleeping advances to the next night and writes your save. Do not quit during an important night expecting a separate manual-save command.
Moonlight Peaks supports mouse and keyboard, but its interface is designed around a controller. The control notes below focus on confirmed behavior rather than publishing a key table that may differ by platform or custom binding.
Controller-First Design
Tools, spells, and transformations each use selection wheels. That keeps permanent tools out of the inventory and avoids a large hotbar.
Long-form reviewers played successfully with both mouse and keyboard and controllers, but repeatedly described controller navigation as the intended experience. The Switch 2 menus were reported as responsive and easy to navigate.
If a prompt differs from a guide, follow the prompt shown by your current platform and check Settings → Controls for the active binding.
How to Save
Return to the farmhouse and interact with the coffin, then choose to sleep. The game advances to the next night and saves progress.
Is there a manual save button?
The sources checked do not document a separate save-anywhere command. Sleeping in the coffin is the dependable player-controlled save action.
Does Moonlight Peaks autosave?
Launch guides describe the game as saving when you sleep. Because no source independently confirms a mid-night checkpoint that is safe to quit from, treat unslept progress as temporary even if a platform or patch displays an activity indicator.
Before closing the game after a long quest, return home, sleep, and wait for the next night to load.
What Happens at Sunrise?
Each night normally runs from 6 PM to 6 AM. In the 60-hour review build, staying out until sunrise made the vampire sparkle and teleport home.
The reviewer observed no loss of money or stamina. This directly contradicts older versions of this page that claimed a gold penalty or lost progress. Patch behavior can change, so treat the current in-game warning as authoritative.
Settings Worth Checking
Character portraits
The game includes the default portrait set and an alternate anime-style set. This is cosmetic and can be changed after starting.
Text animation
Text animations can be disabled. This is useful if animated dialogue makes long conversations harder to read.
12-hour or 24-hour clock
You can switch the time display without changing the actual length of a night.
Night length
A standard night lasts about 15 real minutes. Progression unlocks options to shorten it to roughly 10 minutes or extend it to roughly 25 minutes.
The longer setting is helpful while learning routes, decorating, or completing many errands. The shorter setting is useful when waiting for crops, makers, or story triggers.
Platform Notes
- PC: mouse and keyboard worked well in a 60-hour review, though controller wheels remain the clearest interface.
- Switch 2: controls and menus were responsive; the review build had slightly rougher anti-aliasing and a lower-looking frame rate than PC.
- Switch: the main concern reported by reviewers was loading time, not the controller layout.
- Steam Deck: use the controller layout. We have not found a reliable release-build battery benchmark, so this guide does not recommend a fixed TDP or frame cap.
