Reach Cave of Echoes Before Looking for Gold

A Bridge Too Far opens the Misty Shores route. Cave of Echoes is in the southwest of Misty Shores, beyond the Ambrosia estate and graveyard—not an entrance along town's northern bluffs.

Follow the Cave of Echoes access guide if the route is still blocked. Finding Copper and Iron in the cave does not mean you can immediately reach or mine the Gold deposits.

Unlock Aqua Form for the Lake Route

The community quest pages read on September 15 identify A Curious Passage and The Mysterious Bay as prerequisites for The Mermaid's Wish.

The Mermaid's Wish involves asking Yabbis about gaining legs, collecting special shells in Cave of Echoes and Misty Shores, grinding them into Special Shell Powder, and bringing the powder to Luna Bay. Completing the quest unlocks Aqua Form.

The Luna Bay & Aqua Form walkthrough separates this form unlock from the later route that lets you enter Luna Bay in any form. Do not substitute a guessed friendship requirement or a fixed waiting time for the journal objectives.

These costs match the September 6 tool ledger; the Pickaxe rows were re-read October 3. Earlier release guides disagree on some prices, so Ridge's shop in your installed build remains the final check. The previous 3,000 Coins + 5 Iron Bars + 2 Hardwood Planks instruction was not supported by that ledger.

The Pickaxe profile and tool planner use the same source-backed stages. This page does not add Wood or Hardwood Planks to those listed Bar requirements.

If you smelt the three Iron Bars yourself, the reviewed recipes require 12 Iron Ore + 3 Charcoal. That calculation excludes the Furnace construction cost and any earlier tool purchases.

Swim Across the Cave Lake and Mine the Deposits

1. Enter Cave of Echoes with Aqua Form unlocked and an Iron Pickaxe available.
2. Explore to the lake in the cave's far section.
3. Use Aqua Form to cross to the small beach or strip of land on the opposite side.
4. Return to a tool-using form and mine the Gold Ore deposits.
5. Keep the Ore for Furnace processing rather than assuming the raw material is a Gold Bar.

The September 15 Aqua Form source record explicitly describes access to a small Cave of Echoes beach for Gold. The earlier screenshot-supported Bonus Action guide describes the same lake route. This establishes a usable route, not a guaranteed northeast coordinate, four-to-five-node cluster or two-to-four-Ore yield.

How to Make Gold Bars

At a Furnace, select:

4 Gold Ore + 1 Charcoal → 1 Gold Bar

The machine itself uses 15 Copper Ore + 5 Refined Stone. Charcoal uses 1 ordinary Wood → 1 Charcoal. Therefore, three Gold Bars require 12 Gold Ore + 3 Charcoal, or three Wood if you make all the fuel yourself.

Use the processing database for the recipe and the production-chain planner for a materials calculation. The reviewed recipe does not establish a smelting duration.

What Should I Keep Gold Bars For?

Gold-tier Axe, Pickaxe, Shovel and Watering Can upgrades, plus the Premium Fishing Rod, use Gold Bars in the reviewed tool ledger. Their benefits differ: not every upgrade adds an area-of-effect action.
